'Just Go With It' starring Adam Sandler - trailer review

Just Go With It Directed by: Dennis Dugan Starring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman Rating: NR Release Date: February 11, 2011 TRAILER SCORE: 6/10

MY THOUGHTS: I don't remember the last time I've said this about an Adam Sandler movie (or if I've ever said it for a Jennifer Aniston movie) but this doesn't look awful. The premise is a little flimsy and requires a little suspension of disbelief (i.e. people finding Adam Sandler sexually attractive in any way, shape, or form? This is the stuff of science fiction, people!) but where it counts, it could pay off.

It's main credit is its simplicity. Sure, there's the whole "keeping up with the lie" angle, but I feel pretty sure I know where the movie will end up. As one or two readers never fail to mention, I could be wrong, and I'll own up to that, but seriously, when was the last time Aniston did anything that had a remotely new element to it? I feel pretty safe in assuming the movie is going to navigate those "are we friends or should we be more?" territories, but the journey up until that point doesn't look as bad as I would expect from these two.

Is it my kind of movie? Well, the rom-com never really is, and throwing Sandler and Aniston into the picture isn't helping. And at least they acknowledge that Sandler is a creep for his little scheme. In the end, my philosophy is a lot like the movie's title. If somebody else wants to see it? Eh, sure I'll just go with it, but it's not too likely I'll seek it out on my own.
