Box Office Challenge: 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' 'Monte Carlo' and 'Larry Crowne'

Box Office Challenge

What movie will be No. 1 at the box office?

Hitting the screens this weekend ...

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Monte Carlo Larry Crowne

TSR's complete Film Review Database

It's a holiday weekend and what are you willing to pay to see? Are you going to go for the family-friendly Monte Carlo? The tender middle-aged rom com Larry Crowne? Or are you going to pay for mayhem and destruction in Transformers: Dark of the Moon?

I think it seems like a pretty safe bet that this weekend belongs to the Autobots. Michael Bay's latest venture, which he has promised will be better than Transformers: revenge of the Fallen, seems to have everything audiences have come to expect from their Summer blockbusters.

Explosions? Check. Special effects? Check. A beautiful companion for Shia LaBeouf? Check. And looking at the others it's up against, this one seems like a shoo-in. Still, it's not just about who will take number one at the box office, it's about how much they'll make.

The other movies in the franchise have performed ably and with all the different formats the movie is being presented in (3D, IMAX, etc.) and the number of theaters it's got booked, I'd be surprised if Transformers: Dark of the Moon made anything short of $75 million.

Each week Calhoun Kersten and Aaron Ruffcorn go head to head in a Box Office Challenge.

Who will win?

Maybe you.

Aaron will be back Monday with the Box Office Review. Tune in to find out who wins.

We’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Number 1 film in the U.S.

Whoever is closest, wins. But really, if they aren't within $2 million, it's not very impressive.

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

Calhoun Kersten's prediction for the weekend of July 1 - 3 …

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($80 Million)

Aaron Ruffcorn's prediction for the weekend of July 1 - 3 …

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($125 Million)

So what are your guess for the Number 1 movie at the box office this weekend?
