Bad Teacher

Cars 2

TSR's complete Film Review Database

This weekend is a bare-knuckle brawl between the filth and the family friendly.

Cameron Diaz's turn as a foul-mouthed teacher who sets her eyes on the new teacher in town may have cheated itself out of a first place finish. While its definitely got some solid comedic talents on its side, the R rating may end up holding it back.

Especially when you take a look at the other offerings of the weekend. Putting an R-rated comedy in the summer isn't always such a bad idea (look at The Hangover Part II) but when you're only other competition is a kid's a movie?

Factor in that it's a Pixar movie, it's something for the whole family, and it's being shown in IMAX and 3D, and Cars 2 may be the front runner for this weekend. While the 3D numbers by no means guarantee it the top spot as America's love affair with the technology starts to cool, but having the option may earn it some extra cash.

At least, that seems to be what studios are hoping, considering cars 2 will be shipping to about 900 more theaters than Bad Teacher. That alone may be what secures Cars 2 first place, but until Sunday, it could be anyone's game.
