TSRn: 'Rounders 2' Coming to a Theater Near You?

The Scorecard Review news

News: Harvey Weinstein says the success of Rounders on DVD gives him confidence to go ahead with a sequel. Source: Variety

Thoughts by TSR: Almost no one saw the 1998 film Rounders in the theater. It starred Matt Damon and Ed Norton, but only grossed $23 million at the box office. Everyone (slight exaggeration) has seen Rounders on DVD. It seems Weinstein thinks that's enough for a sequel. He says, ""I never make sequels but it's something I'd like to revisit." He's hoping to have Damon and Norton back for the sequel. The Rounders franchise might always be at the right place (big screen), but wrong time. It came out before the Texas Hold'em boom, and now that it's over, I don't know if poker will pack them in. Also, it seems odd for Damon and Norton to return to these characters. I easily see lesser actors step into these roles and have this be a Straight-to-DVD franchise for years to come. Please keep in mind, I will be giddy with excite over Damon and Norton returning to play Mike McD and Worm, I'm just not willing to hold my breath.
