Chris Rock to star in Will You Be My Black Friend?

Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films and Lionsgate have recently acquired the rights to a November 2008 GQ article entitled "Will You Be My Black Friend?" and Chris Rick has been hired to headline the film, reports Variety. In the article, senior correspondent Devin Friedman discusses his clumsy attempt to befriend people of other races. If the fact that Chris Rock will star in the film adaptation hasn't tipped you off yet, this will definitely be a comedy.

This project is still in the early stages but producers Winfrey and Harpo executives Kate Forte and Carla Gardini have their work cut out for them. The article provides the basic premise that they can build around Chris Rock and his style of humor. In fact, they should probably get Rock to help with the writing, if they haven't already put that in works.

Pretty much everything Oprah touches turns to gold and it doesn't hurt to throw in Chris Rock for good measure. I'm looking forward to seeing this one with my black friends.
