'Footloose' starring Kenny Wormald and Dennis Quaid - trailer review

Footloose Directed by: Craig Brewer Starring: Kenny Wormald, Dennis Quaid, Julianne Hough Rating: not yet rated Release Date: October 14, 2011

TRAILER SCORE: 7/10

Thoughts by TSR: Do we really need a remake of Footloose? I want to say no, I certainly don't think it's necessary. But dammit if this trailer doesn't look like a good time. The original may be a classic, but it's not a great film. I watched it again, it's not as good as it was when I was eight. But it is still a sweet story about teens using music to gain independence. This trailer starts by telling the new kid in town story, before becoming an orgy of female flesh juxtaposed fast cars, weirdly decorated school buses and stuff on fire! It makes it pretty clear who the film is being marketed too. Kind of weird considering girls are way more into the original film than guys. Well, that they admit anyway.

But really, what sells this trailer is the scene where Ren (played by relative newcomer Kenny Wormald) acts out his rage through interpretive dance, alone, in a factory. I don't expect this movie to be great, or even that memorable once I leave the theater. But I'm hoping that it'll be a lot of fun.
