'Thor' starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman - trailer review

Thor Directed by: Kenneth Branagh Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman Rating: NR Release Date: May 6, 2011

TRAILER SCORE: 8/10

MY THOUGHTS: Epic is the only word that comes to mind after watching this trailer, and for the first time in a long time, I mean that in a good way. What Thor has going for it is all highlighted in this trailer, which has got to be one of the better trailers that I've seen in far too long. On a very basic level, it's nice to see Thor's trailer actually address the fact that its an actual narrative film. It gives an idea of the story, without giving too much away.

But like I said, what's really stunning about this trailer is that it gives Thor gives you a taste of everything. As a big Kat Denning fan (ever since The 40 Year Old Virgin, I've loved her) it was nice to see her contribution to the trailer. Truth be told, since the first trailer premiered, it's nice to see that they've included a lot more than the titular character. It already gives a pretty good idea of the supporting cast and the style.

But you also can't accuse this trailer of neglecting its star. Chris Hemsworth shows off his body to reel in some of the fans, but also his heroic streak. There's a nice blend of his comedic skills, but also his ability to kick ass and take names. It's a bit of a tightrope that they straddle throughout the trailer but it manages to do it well.
