'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' - trailer review

The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader Directed by: Michael Apted Starring: Liam Neeson, Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes Rating: NR Release Date: December 25, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 6/10

MY THOUGHTS: I admit that I've never been a huge fan of the Narnia series. There was something about having a thinly veiled allegory for Christ being shoved down my throat that just put me off. Still, with the release of the first trailer for the third installment in The Chronicles of Narnia series has got me a little excited. It's not as in-your-face Christian as The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was, so that's a definite plus for me. Still, I am a little nervous about what people will turn it into, but I'll save that fear for opening weekend. Still, considering that the trailer isn't terribly plot heavy is a good sign that, well, maybe this one won't be so heavy handed. After all, this trailer is selling the beauty and majesty of the imagery and in that case, consider me sold. But let me be clear that this 6 out of 10 is almost solely on the visuals of the trailer. There isn't much else to judge it on considering the only way I was able to piece together the plot was by reading a brief plot synopsis that came with the trailer. Ultimately, this film is definitely more for established die-hard Narnia fans and not so much for the late stragglers. It warrants a look, but not a whole lot more than that.
