'The Other Guys' starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg - trailer review

The Other Guys Directed by: Adam McKay Starring: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson Rating: NR Release Date: August 6, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 4/10

MY THOUGHTS: It looks like it’s that time again; time for another Will Ferrell “masterpiece”. I’ve liked a couple of his movies, I won’t deny that, but his over-the-top “acting” and his comedic style are just tired. Anchorman was probably his most recent role that I’ve enjoyed and I know I was in high school when that came out, so as a recent college grad, that doesn’t bode well for Will Ferrell’s record. When paired with Mark Wahlberg, I’m expecting something on par with his SNL performance with all of the “say hi to your mother for me” nonsense and Andy Samberg. It’s time for something new for Ferrell and if you ask me, it’s just plain time for Marky Mark to stop. However, this movie is evidence that if you’ve got two leads and one who can scream the lines loud enough to make them ‘funny” (see the closing 10 seconds or so) then you’ve got yourself a movie. However, it’s not fair to entirely dismiss this movie. Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne (who will always be The Rock) Johnson playing the two big-time cops could provide a few minor laughs, but for the most part, I’m not expecting good things from The Other Guys.
