This weekend saw the apes take over again. James Franco's Rise of the Planet of the Apes dominated the box office again, despite having some serious new box office competition.

The Help had some solid support in its opening weekend. Emma Stone's leading lady status couldn't have hurt the movie much, but, its release on Wednesday may have cut into its box office earnings.

Final Destination 5 continued the franchise's financial success. Even though it came in third place, the tradition of low budget horror flicks and box office returns continues as the fifth film of the franchise takes it place in the top five.

The Smurfs continued to haunt the top five, although it dropped from number two to number four with all of the newcomers this weekend.

30 Minutes or Less rounded out the top five. Although Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari are both hot commodities in the movies, but the R rating may have cut out some of its audience, bringing it to the end of our top five list this weekend.

Calhoun Kersten vs. Aaron Ruffcorn

Each weekend Kersten and Ruffcorn go head to head in the Box Office Challenge, trying to pick the correct Number One film in America and how much money it will make.

This weekend ... Draw!

Season record: 7-8

Thoughts by TSR: Ruffcorn remains in the lead, but it was a disappointing weekend at the box office as both our writers failed to come close to predicting the number one flick this weekend.
