Hi.

This is Jeff Bayer, and I don't update this site very often. If you'd like to listen to my current movie podcast you can find it at MovieBS.com.

Box Office Preview - March 5 - 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Brooklyn's Finest'

Hitting the screens this week… Alice in Wonderland Bayer's TSR - 6/10

Brooklyn’s Finest Allen's TSR - 7/10

Tim Burton’s latest seems like it’ll be the main event this weekend. With a star-studded cast including Johnny Depp and rich visuals, it seems like the movie is a shoo-in to knock off Shutter Island.

Brooklyn’s Finest isn’t really being given much of a fighting chance though, debuting in 1,800 theaters throughout the United States. Maybe on any other weekend, it would place top 5, but generally bad reviews certainly aren’t helping it ... Though we at The Scorecard Review were fans.

Shutter Island will remain in the top 5 as there isn’t too much to push it further down the list. But I’m imagining that Avatar will see another boost this weekend, thanks to it grabbing 9 Oscar nods and the awards being this weekend.

In other news, fan boys will stay loyal to the Kevin Smith trainwreck Cop Out but few others will, leaving it in one of the last spots, if it even places.

Rounding out the weekend will be The Crazies. It didn’t get a chance to really perform in its opening weekend so it’s hard to believe this is the last we’ve seen of this movie, but this isn’t going to be its’ weekend.

Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order).

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

My prediction for the weekend of March 5 – 7…

1. Alice in Wonderland

2. Shutter Island

3. Avatar

4. Cop Out

5. The Crazies

So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
