TSRn: Harrison Ford to Read the News in 'Anchorman 2'

The Scorecard Review news

News: Harrison Ford will play a legendary newscaster in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The sequel to 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy is set to start shooting this month in Atlanta. Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Thoughts by TSR: Harrison Ford as a Tom Brokaw-esque newsman is something I can get on board with. It’s not unfamiliar territory for him – you may recall Morning Glory being a thing that exists – but he wasn’t bad playing a crotchety ol' newscaster. Hopefully Will Ferrell and Adam McKay can bring out the best in him. He has quite a bit of stuff on the horizon – Ender’s Game, Paranoia, and Jackie Robinson biopic 42 all coming this year – so maybe he’s going to be getting himself back on track after nonsense like Cowboys & Aliens. While it’ll be cool to see Ford hopefully letting loose, I’d be a bit more excited if he was playing Brick Tamland’s father. You just know Harrison Ford, Legendary Newsman would love a good pants party.

I’m a little worried Anchorman: The Legend Continues will be a letdown nearly a decade after its brilliant predecessor. I’m able to push those concerns away for now with a little scotchy scotch scotch, but I hope they don’t prove true when this film hits theaters at the end of the year. Regardless, with Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and David Koechner being joined by "Saturday Night Live" alum Kristen Wiig, there are already plenty of reasons to be excited. I know I’m more interested to see Ford show up in this than I’ll be if he dusts off the vest and plays Han Solo in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.
