Worldwide the total for Avatar is at $242.5 million.
It also came close to having the best December opening of all time. But that record is still held by Will Smith's I Am Legend. That topped the box office at $77.2 million.
Avatar is also the widest 3D release so far, with more than 2,000 screens being 3D. It's also thought the numbers could have been higher but a big blizzard hit the East Coast.
