Hi.

This is Jeff Bayer, and I don't update this site very often. If you'd like to listen to my current movie podcast you can find it at MovieBS.com.

Hugh Jackman will not host the 82nd Academy Awards

There's no word on who will, but there's now word on who won't host the Oscars on March 7, 2010. Hugh Jackman has turned down the job, Variety reports.

Jackman (aka Song & Dance Wolverine) received mostly positive reviews hosting the show last year, as he declared, "The Musical is Back!" and danced with Beyonce.

Variety says it's understood that he didn't want to do the show two years in a row.

Jackman's next film will be The Real Steel.

The 82nd annual Academy Awards will be produced by Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman.

So, now that we know Jackman is out, who should be in?

Either you want a showman (like Jackman) or comedian (like Jon Stewart).

I would have suggested Ricky Gervais, but he's busy with the Golden Globes. If the Oscars were on NBC, there probably would have been a strong push to get Conan O'Brien the gig. Neil Patrick Harris is out because he just did the Emmys. My early vote ... David Letterman. Give the man another chance. I promise he won't do the Oprah ... Uma joke again. OK, that's not true, I can't promise that.
