'The Son of No One' starring Channing Tatum - trailer review

The Son of No One Directed by: Dito Montiel Starring: Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Juliette Binoche, Ray Liotta Rating: R Release Date: November 4, 2011

TRAILER SCORE: 5/10

Thoughts by TSR: Opening comment: Great cast, great mustaches. I like the look and the feel of the characters and locations as portrayed in this trailer, they have a certain naturalistic quality, and I think that plays well here. That's certainly what The Son of No One is going for. Based on the trailer, it seems that Al Pacino's role will be quite limited (which is a bit of a bummer), with the brunt of the narrative's weight lying squarely on the shoulders of Channing Tatum. He's got a strong back, and has good acting chops too, so he should be fine. He looks good in this trailer, and his natural charisma and wild intensity look to lend themselves nicely to this role. All that positive stuff said though, I didn't feel too engaged by this trailer. The music, editing and general presentation were all rather boring, and the story as presented here seems drab and over-played. Nothing new whatsoever was presented to the viewer, and ultimately this trailer made The Son of No One look a lot like a made-for-TVer. If the story is good, if the dialog is well-penned, this could be a great film -- but this trailer does little to suggest such.
