‘Takers’ starring Paul Walker – trailer review

Takers

Directed by: John Luessenhoop
Starring: Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Matt Dillon
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: August 20, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 3/10

MY THOUGHTS: Well, just when you think Paul Walker can’t do it again, he manages to pick another project that forces you to question if the man’s even got an agent. I mean, does anyone even read the scripts that are sent his way? How else do you explain some of his career moves? But relax, this isn’t about hating on Paul Walker here. There are other people I’m disappointed in too. Like Idris Elba. I mean, he was in one of the best written shows of all time and this is what he does with his post-”Wire” life. For shame. But this is more than just about being disappointed. How can I not look forward to a heist thriller starring both T.I. and Chris Brown? Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer my gun runners and girlfriend beaters in jail and not at the multiplex. Then again, I guess I can’t get too worked up over a trailer. After all, after wasting 2 minutes and 30 seconds of my time on this trailer, at least I know better than to spend 90 minutes on it. From the obnoxious music to the more than likely “twist” in the third act, Takers looks like it’s not even worth taking seriously.

I’m more interested in watching the black hole of acting appear between Paul “Dude! I almost had you!” Walker and Hayden “Worst Jedi Ever” Christensen.
