‘Robin Hood’ starring Russell Crowe – trailer review
Robin Hood
Directed by: Ridley Scott
Starring: Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: May 14, 2010
TRAILER SCORE: 8/10
MY THOUGHTS: After a myriad of delays, it looks like Ridley Scott’s vision of the legendary Robin Hood is finally ready to hit the screen. I was a little disappointed at the beginning of the trailer to see that it was PG-13. After all, scenes of carnage and bloody warfare are among Ridley Scott’s specialty, but after viewing the trailer, it looks like there might be enough to salvage the movie. Although nothing can replace the Disney version of Robin Hood that I grew up with, my main fear is that this will end up like the disastrous King Arthur which tried to tell the story of the man behind the legend. Still, if anyone can avoid that fate, it’s Ridley Scott. Teaming up with him again is Russell Crowe who will be playing the titular character. While he wouldn’t have been the first person I’d think of to cast, he looks rough and brutish enough for the part. However, the most exciting addition to the cast, for me at least, is Cate Blanchett. I’ve always been a fan, but this take on Maid Marian as anything but the damsel in distress should be interesting to see. Regardless of reviews, I know I’ll find myself sitting through this one, especially after the long-awaited release of a feature trailer.
