Film Synopsis (from SXSW.com)

WHO'S IT FOR? If you're scouring VOD for something to keep you occupied and amused in the late hours of the night, pick this one. Even if zombie movies feel tiresome, this one will engage cynics if just during its swift running time.

OVERALL

REC 3 is a nifty little zombie movie that provides a satiable dosage of madness for midnight viewing. It's bloody and usually funny, and not so important to really demand your full attention. The whole zombie fad has really started to wear on me, (it's not undead, it just won't die), but the light self-awareness of REC 3 makes this particular zed-movie a refreshing viewing.

Working with the functioning clever concept of a wedding, (a large guest list and at least a couple cameras), this lightness prevents it from losing its moderate amount of amusement. The zombie thrills are nothing new; they usually pop up at perfectly wrong times, sometimes in an effective jump scare, and even scream like they had been bitten by possessed tigers instead of recently deceased humans. It's the same ol' zombie thrills, for better or for worse.

It's the characters that are lively, and the absurd comical moments that they are thrown into. On top of this, these are actually characters whose fate in such a simple show can be cared about. This is an epidemic in which you hope the best for the marrying couple, even before they have the world's most disastrous wedding.

FINAL SCORE: 6/10
