Argo (Blu-ray/DVD Combo+UltraViolet Digital Copy)

Blu-ray Review Argo

Directed by: Ben Affleck Cast: Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman Running Time: 2 hrs Rating: R "ARGO" available on Blu-ray Combo pack, DVD and for download 2/19!

PLOT: A CIA specialist (Affleck) devises a wild plan to sneak out six Americans during the most tense moments of the Iranian Revolution.

WHO’S IT FOR? This movie is definitely for those who like a solid mix of Hollywood comedy and drama, as told through a fascinating true story you can’t believe you haven’t heard of before.

MOVIE:

Argo is my #8 film of 2012 (full list). It is a fantastic mix of a real-life event, and a Hollywood story that makes it even more dramatic, especially the ending. Affleck, Arkin, Goodman and Cranston are great, but so are the other lesser-known actors like Scoot McNairy, Rory Cochrane and Clea DuVall. The film has been winning major honors including the Golden Globe Awards for Best Picture and Best Director, and Critics' Choice Movie Awards for Best Picture and Director. I was there for the Critics' Choice Awards. In fact, I was about 25 feet away when Affleck heard his name announced as the winner for Best Director. It came just hours after he wasn't nominated for an Academy Award. It was great to see the excitement on his face. I'm well aware that the Critics' Choice doesn't have the prestige of the Oscars, but for that moment, Affleck didn't seem to care. The odd part is, that if he was nominated for an Academy Award, he'd be the front runner to win.

MOVIE SCORE: 9/10
