This weekend offers a bunch of new flicks for audiences, ranging from horror to kid-friendly. The real question is, which one has the potential to take over for Resident Evil: Afterlife?

My best guess is Easy A. Sure, it may not look like the most intellectually stimulating movie, but with an impressive cast, this movie has the ability to replace Mean Girls in tweens’ hearts.

The Town also has a really good chance this weekend, although it’s R rating may prevent it from becoming number one. Ben Affleck’s thriller has received pretty positive buzz so far, plus Don Draper on the big screen? I’m there.

Considering the 3D market, it’s safe to say that Resident Evil: Afterlife has a pretty strong one up on some of these other movies. Plus when your competition is a PG-13 horror flick and a kid’s movie, there doesn’t seem to be much reason to shake in one’s boots.

Devil could have been sold as a legitimate movie, but attaching the name “M. Night Shyamalan” was a rookie mistake by the studio execs. Yes, it’s true there are those videos of people audibly laughing at the trailer when his name appears on the movie screen and I think that pretty much says it all.

Finally, Alpha and Omega may not fare too well this weekend. It just seems like poor timing with most kids heading back to school.

Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order).

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

My prediction for the weekend of September 17 - 19 …

1. Easy A

2. The Town

3. Resident Evil: Afterlife

4. Devil

5. Alpha and Omega

So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
