Thoughts by TSR: Is there any way this ends without Will Arnett saying, “I’ve made a huge mistake”? I’m sure everybody on the internet has already made that reference in regards to this news, but boy does everything about this reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” feel misguided.

Will Arnett is joining Megan Fox, who will be playing spunky reporter/turtle friend April O’Neil. Arnett’s role is apparently being kept a secret. That tactic might work for J.J. Abrams (not that I necessarily think it does), but for a TMNT reboot produced by Michael Bay and directed by the guy who did The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Battle: Los Angeles it’s just pure silliness. THR’s report says he’s not playing Casey Jones, a role made legendary by Elias Koteas. With that gruff voice of his, he’s probably playing Shredder. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing him play the turtles’ rat sensei, Splinter. Because that would make as much sense as the rest of this nonsense. Or no! Even better, I hope he plays Krang, the brain guy who lives in that beefy mechanical dude’s stomach. That would be something to see.

If Arnett is playing a villain, it could be fun seeing him chicken dance all the way to the bank. Thanks to “Arrested Development,” he gives me a little reason to be interested. Well, him and the morbid curiosity.
