Robert Downey Jr. may star as Lestat in Vampire Chronicles & replaced in Oobermind by Will Ferrell
Isn’t it odd that Robert Downey Jr. only does blockbusters now? And since everyone has decided every good idea should revolve around vampires thanks to The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the rest of Robert Pattinson’s Twilight films … now comes word that Downey Jr. may star as Lestat in Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” series.
Tom Cruise and Stuart Townsend have played Lestat in the past and now the series is getting a reboot according to Bloody Disgusting.
They say Downey Jr. is in final talks to star as Lestat.
He may be making room for this character by dropping out of Oobermind … though that’s doubtful since it’s just voice work.
DreamWorks Animation’s Oobermind has enlisted three new superheroes, with Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill for the animated comedy for the fall of 2010 reports Variety.
Ferrell replaces Robert Downey Jr. in the title role of a super villain. Tina Fey is already on board to play a reporter in the flick.

I would love to see a remake of The vampire chronicles but not with Robert Downey JR as Lestat he is too old. I think Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be better for the role of Lestat.
I would however like to see either Robert Downey JR or Johnny Depp play Armand.
