Hi.

This is Jeff Bayer, and I don't update this site very often. If you'd like to listen to my current movie podcast you can find it at MovieBS.com.

TSR Buzz - Siskel & Ebert & McDonald's, plus Human Giant and Pogo

With TSR Buzz, you’ll find links to articles, videos and other random things that will help you waste your time just a little bit more.

  • Pogo is a Youtube musician who takes sound bites from movies, mixes them with bits of music, and turns them into beautiful, danceable tributes - with visual editing to match. From his wide catalog, this is probably his best work. Which is fitting, considering that it is for Pixar's best movie.

  • As Pogo demonstrates, there's a lot of magic that can be done with the manipulation of sound. Now, Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer (known as "Human Giant") educate us about the importance of designing sounds into film and television. Ben Burtt would be proud.

  • Before Spike Jonze made Where the Wild Things Are and Adaptation, he made music videos. Slow-motion is rarely this compelling.

  • Instead of showing what is likely an incorrectly toned trailer for Todd Solondz's new film, Life During Wartime, I feel that listening to the theme song is a better substitute. My review for the film will be available next Friday.

  • Now, here are two classic film critics, Siskel & Ebert, making fun of each other while the cameras are still rolling in a collection of outtakes. The riffing includes talking about Protestantism, and each others eating habits at McDonald's. (The language is hilarious, but NSFW).
