There is a reason it isn't called X-Man. Writer/producer/director David Goyer has a lot on his plate with his writing for the new TV series "Flash Forward", his development of the film Super Max and a possible new Batman film but he apparently still has room for a new X-Men film as well. In a recent interview with MTV news Goyer revealed that the rumored X-Men Origins: Magneto is still on the table.
Since fans devoured the first origins film X-Men Origins: Wolverine it's not surprising film makers would want to get to work on other similar projects. In the recent interview Goyer said, "They're still thinking about doing it. They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs." In regards to the Magneto film specifically, Goyer commented, "I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so."
The additional X-Men spinoffs Goyer mentioned include X-Men: First Class, which would follow the young Cyclops, Beast and Jean Grey and X-Men Origins: Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role.
X-Men fans can rest assured that more films are on the way, we're just not sure which ones or when they'll finally make it to theaters.
