MGM's live-action comedy The Zookeeper starring Kevin James and Rosario Dawson has just rounded out the cast with a slew of voices for their animal characters. Adam Sandler, Judd Apatow, Sylvester Stallone, John Favreau and Cher have all signed on to play some of the zoo's most popular animals, reports Variety. Sandler will voice a capuchin monkey, Apatow an elephant, Stallone a lion, Favreau a bear and Cher a giraffe. Also voicing unknown characters will be Jim Brewer, Faizon Love and Bas Rutten.
The story revolves around a zookeeper (James) who gets advice from his furry friends about their method of dating and mating as he tries to win back the woman of his dreams (Dawson). The screenplay was written by Jay Scherick, David Ronn, Kevin James, Rock Reuben and Nick Bakay and will be directed by Frank Coraci.
I like the cast they put together but I'm not sold on the talking animals. I'll just have to wait until the October 8, 2010 release to see if they pull it off.
