Nicholas Sparks, who is famously known for scribing tear-jerking books that later became films like The Notebook and Nights at Rodanthe, has written a "Song" for "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus. "The Last Song," a Disney drama, was written by the author with Cyrus in mind. The book version of this story will hit stores this fall.
According to Variety, Cyrus is going to play "a rebellious teen sent to spend the summer with her estranged father. He tries to reconnect with her through the one thing they have in common: music." Set to play the "estranged father" is Greg Kinnear. Cyrus' on-screen mother will be played by Kelly Preston.
The movie is currently shooting in Savannah, Georgia, with Julia Anne Robinson sitting in the director's chair. Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman are producing through their company, Offspring Entertainment. Executive producing the film will be Tish Cyrus.
"The Last Song" is set to be released January 8th, 2010.
