The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Directed by: Bill Condon Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner Rating: Not Yet Rated Release Date: November 16, 2012
TRAILER SCORE: 6/10
Thoughts by TSR: Despite not caring for the first three films, I’m not ashamed to admit I found plenty to enjoy about Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Bill Condon hit the right tone, something I’m counting on him maintaining for Breaking Dawn – Part 2. It doesn't need to live up to the craziness of the birthing scene, but if we can get halfway there I’ll be content.
This teaser doesn’t show much, but there’s really no reason it should. They aren’t converting anybody – by this point you’ve made up your mind as to whether you can handle dialogue like “You’re so beautiful. We’re the same temperature now.” What it does show, however, indicates that the campiness I’m looking for will be out in full force. Vampire Bella has a lot of promise, and that last shot of her between the trees is just perfect.
I already outed myself as a fan of the first part, but I won’t be too sad to see these go. As someone who believes Pattinson and Stewart are talented (sorry, Taylor Lautner), I look forward to them getting the opportunity to do other things. They both have films playing at Cannes (Cosmopolis for Pattinson, On the Road for Stewart), so hopefully that is a sign of things to come. For now I’ll just sit back and see what sort of shenanigans Jacob, Edward, and vampire Bella get up to in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
