'Catfish' starring Nev Schulman - trailer review
Catfish Directed by: Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman Starring: Nev Schulman, Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman Rating: PG - 13 Release Date: September 17, 2010 (limited)
TRAILER SCORE: 9/10
MY THOUGHTS: What a tease, this trailer refuses to put out. It starts out happy and fun with a young man in love. Admittedly he's in love with a girl he never met, but still. It's all tinkly "Good Vibrations" music as sung by the children of the Langley School Music Project, which always sounds a little creepy, but still, could be worse. Like what happens later in the preview. I don't know what's more disturbing, the men peeking into darkened windows while I'm waiting for something horrible to jump out, or the music. The selling point of the movie is clearly that the second half has a big surprise, and the quotes from other film reviewers actually do pique my interest, a lot. After seeing this, I had to double check and make sure it was actually a documentary because the trailer plays like a verite thriller. It kind of reminds me of the trailer for Paranormal Activity, wanting to sell the experience to get you in the theater. So my big question, and maybe this is beside the point, but what does the title refer to?
