'Operation: Endgame' starring Rod Corddry - red band trailer review

Operation: Endgame - Red Band Trailer Directed by: Fouad Mikati Starring: Joe Anderson, Rob Corddry, Ellen Barkin Rating: R Release Date: July 16, 2010

MY THOUGHTS: I'll admit, as a film critic, I like to get off my high horse every so often and watch a brainless comedy. Hell, more than every so often. This movie looks like it's got potential to be something worth watching, but it also could easily be a clear cut case of "use everything that's funny to get people in," which is a pretty common tactic. Still, it's an exciting opportunity, that's for sure. I'm not terribly excited about Corddry, because I've never been a big over-the-top kind of humor guy, but it looks like he's put to good use by the end of this trailer. However, the ultimate surprise are these people being used that I had no idea had any comedic inclinations. It's been a while since Ellen Barkin's done something that made me laugh and well, I didn't even know Odette Yustman could do comedy until this. Still, I have my reservations about this one, but it looks like it has a lot of potential. Plus, I'm always for a reunion of Mission Impossible co-stars, but that's probably just my nerdiness shining through. With a comedic all-star cast and an impressive array of other stars, Operation: Engame is filled with all the potential for an enjoyable if not brainless action-comedy romp.
