'Grown Ups' starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James - trailer review

Grown Ups Directed by: Dennis Dugan Starring: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock Rating: NR Release Date: June 25, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 3/10

MY THOUGHTS: What do 5 out of work, over the hill comedians do when they need work? Why they star in a movie all together, hoping to cash in on at least one of their fan bases. That’s the problem with Grown Ups (the latest from Happy Madison Productions. Coincidence? I think not!). It’s just so tragic to even watch the trailer. I mean, here’s Sandler who I used to love back in the days of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore and he’s just making a fool of himself for a buck. I suppose that’s the way that it works in Hollywood, but seriously? I mean, sure I’ve never been a Kevin James fan (in yet another role where his wife is exponentially hotter than him) but you’d at least think he’d be getting better offers than this. The rest of the cast, with the exception of Chris Rock, mainly hit their peaks at some point in the 90s and they know it. Still, what’s most disappointing is the cast of women. Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph? Come on, you had to have had some better things going on! I don’t mean to nag, but ladies, I’m going to pull the parent card and say, I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. All in all, don’t call this a comeback, because I’m not expecting good things from this.
