'Get Low' starring Bill Murray and Robert Duvall - trailer review

Get Low Directed by: Aaron Schneider Starring: Bill Murray, Robert Duvall, Sissy Spaceck Rating: PG-13 Release Date: July 30, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 8/10

MY THOUGHTS: Considering this movie takes place in what looks like the rural South of the Great Depression era, the title seems a little odd. Normally, I’m not a fan of those “clever” little ways that studios find to tie in the title of the movie at the end of the trailer, but by the end of this 2:05 trailer, I found myself so wrapped up in he characters and the story that I didn’t care about much else. Let’s be realistic about this folks, it’s quite a feat to get me to care. As much as I hate to say it, most movies I’ve seen recently have been such a passive experience. I go in the theater, they turn the lights down, I watch the movie, and then I go home. Not only did this trailer get me to care about these characters that I was just introduced to, but it got me to do it in under 2 minutes. The best way to describe it is intrigue. The story starts out simple enough, then gets a little stranger, quirky even, and it doesn’t seem to stop. More than that though, it looks so genuine and heartfelt. While I can’t say for sure until I see the movie, I’m expecting good things from a stellar cast and a legitimately interesting story.
