The bare-butt of Sacha Baron Cohen wasn't the only thing that the MTV Movie Awards dropped last Sunday night. The show was the first to premiere the long-awaited first trailer for the next film in the Twilight saga, New Moon. It was met with overwhelming squealing, especially during its strategically placed introduction of a shirtless Taylor Lautner. Check it out!
I'll admit, this is a pretty good teaser. Not in a "Oh, that looks good! I can't wait to see it!" kind of way, but in a "Whoa now! I have got a few questions about this upcoming champion of a film!"
Number One: Will Robert Pattinson's acting in New Moon be as awful as when he says "This is the last time you'll ever see me,"? That'll be a stake in New Moon's heart for sure.
Number Two: And how much does Bella's life really, uh ... bite? For example, she has to beg her boyfriend for a kiss on her friggin' birthday. Then, a gift that she gets from said boyfriend's family cuts her finger (leaving a noticeable red spot on the carpet). On top of that, she gets attacked by a member of her boyfriend's family, and then, no fault of her own, her boyfriend leaves her! As if life couldn't be any worse, then she gets attacked by another dude, with even crazier eyes! It just doesn't sound like she'll have a life even 1/48th as good as Edward's, who could spend an eternity patrolling high school hallways for more gullible girls.
Number Three: Will Pattinson and Stewart even make it to the fourth film? Contractually, they have to. But anyone could get a whiff of the pungent disdain the two had for the first film during the MTV Movie Awards. They didn't look happy to be there, especially for a film (or series, in this case) not very complimentary to their hopes of being taken serious as credible thespians.
Number Four: Why do people think Taylor Lautner is hot? I'd rather play with him in werewolf form than the convenient, "I am not wearing a shirt," form. If anything, Cam Gigandet was way foxier!
New Moon opens November 20, 2009.
