Toy Story 2 in 3D

Toy Story 2 in 3D Directed by: John Lasseter Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Wayne Knight Running Time: 1 hr 15 min Rating: G Release Date: October 2, 2009

PLOT: When Woody (Hanks) attempts to rescue a toy in distress, he is kidnapped by a kooky toy collector (Knight). Buzz (Allen) and the rest of the gang pull together to rescue Woody before he's shipped off to Japan.

WHO'S IT FOR? A la the first Toy Story, everyone in the known universe. Heck, even aliens from outer space should probably see this film.

OVERALL

In my mind, Toy Story 2 is just as fun and well-written as the first Toy Story. I've heard other critics say otherwise, but I think that's more out of misplaced snobbery--AKA, "I will could nevah approve of a sequel." Toy Story 2 is just as fun and fast and clever as the first movie. The animation is sublime and the voice talent is absolutely perfect.

OK, so now the remake: the 3D is pretty unspectacular. It felt like it had more depth in Toy Story 2 than in Toy Story, but maybe because I was straining to enjoy it. These movies weren't designed for 3D and therefore it's pretty flat. As I said in my review of Toy Story in 3D, the probability that you'll see it, crappy 3D and all, is very high. The films themselves are still so much fun.
