Hitting the screens this week… The Bounty Hunter
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Repo Men
The Runaways (limited)
Looks like we’ve got another big opening weekend, with three wide releases, holding a little bit of something for everyone.
For kids and adults alike, there’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid which looks like it’s got some sage wisdom for kids, but plenty of humor to keep them interested. For adults, there’s the addition of Steve Zahn and little known (but definitely recognizable) Rachael Harris.
For the romantics out there, what’s that, yet another Jennifer Aniston rom-com? She keeps making ‘em and people seem to keep seeing them, but some terrible reviews may keep most people away, but certainly not die-hard “Friends” fans. Plus, when talking about a chick flick, eye candy like Gerard Butler never hurt anyone.
Finally, on our list of wide releases, is the gross-out action/sci-fi flick, Repo Men. Jude Law and the promise of plenty of blood and guts should draw in some of a crowd, but not enough to guarantee it that number one spot.
Rounding out the top 5, I predict that Alice in Wonderland may fall far this weekend, with such a variety of new releases. It’ll still earn a place on the top 5, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came in around the end, at number 4.
Finally, Green Zone isn’t showing any signs of stopping any time soon, despite what critics think of it. The Matt Damon thriller may just squeeze in at number 5 on our list.
Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order).
It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.
My prediction for the weekend of March 19 – 21…
1. Diary of a Wimpy Kid
2. The Bounty Hunter
3. Repo Men
4. Alice in Wonderland
5. Green Zone
So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
