The Dude might be getting back with the Coen brothers but not to make Big Lebowski 2. This time, Variety says it's a Western remake made famous by John Wayne.
True Grit won Wayne an Oscar in 1963. Supposedly this time around the movie will be more faithful to the book by Charles Portis.
The story is about a teenage girl who sticks to the side of an aging U.S. Marshal who is tracking down the outlaw who killed her faither.
Is this exciting or sad? Any fan of White Russians who sees the name Brdiges along with Coen must immediately start dreaming of Lebowski 2. So perhaps this pairing is simply annoying because of what might have been. After all, True Grit and cult comedy don't add up. The closest we've seen Bridges recapture the character known simply as The Dude, was oddly in the animated film Surf's Up.
