I'm a big Neil Patrick Harris fan. "Doogie Houser, M.D." may have planted the seed long ago but what really sold me was his cameo in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and his recent work in "How I Met Your Mother." It seems I'm not the only fan because Harris has been Emmy nominated twice for his role on "How I Met Your Mother" and he hosted the Tony Awards this past Sunday. With TV on summer vacation, the film world now wants a piece of Harris.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harris will squeeze in two film roles over the summer. The first is a starring role in an independent film called The Best and the Brightest. The second is a supporting role in a CBS films picture called Beastly.
The Best and the Brightest is written and directed by Josh Shelov and revolves around a Delaware couple who moves to New York's Upper East Side and has to deal with the city's private kindergartens. Starring opposite Harris will be Bonnie Somerville and also cast are Amy Sedaris, John Hodgman and Peter Serafinowicz to name a few.
Harris's other film Beastly is a modern version of Beauty and the Beast adapted from the Alex Finn novel. Also cast in the film are Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olson.
These may not be blockbuster films but casting NPH can't hurt their popularity.
