Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle Join Ridley Scott's Robin Hood Film

Director Ridley Scott's upcoming Robin Hood film has cast its Merry Men. Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle have signed on to join the untitled film set to begin shooting in April in the UK. The trio will join Oscar winners Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, who have already been cast in the leading roles of Robin Hood and Maid Marion. The new additions will shake out as follows: Grimes, who you may have seen on NBC's "ER," will play Will Scarlet; Durand, who had a brief role in ABC's "Lost," is set to play Little John; Doyle, the lead singer of Canadian rock band "Great Big Sea," will play Alan A. Dale (is it just a coincidence that the actor's name is so similar to the character's?).

It's no secret the story has been done before, whether you remember Errol Flynn (1938), Disney's animated version (1973) or Kevin Costner (1991) . THR reports that Ridley Scott's version will focus on the origins of the key characters in the Robin Hood story. With any luck this means that fans will have a fresh retelling of the story.
