Thoughts by TSR: You'd think the relentless food puns in this trailer for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 would grow tiresome. Au contraire! If anything, I found them more amusing as the trailer went along. Come on, how can you not love the sound of Andy Samberg saying "shrimpanzees"? Or Anna Faris exclaiming "mosquitoast!" Then there's the leak leek in the boat, which might be the most delightful thing my tired eyes have seen lately. And don't even get me started on the tacodile!
I loved the endlessly enjoyable Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs when it came out in 2009. I've been looking forward to seeing something from this sequel, but I never would have guessed that the first trailer would be riffing on Jurassic Park. If I wasn't already excited, this would have been a surefire way to get me there. I guess I'll just have to settle for being doubly excited. Bill Hader's presence is always welcome, and it sounds like he's amusingly bringing Flint's enthusiasm to life once again. I just hope we won't be deprived of at least one of Flint's amazing commentary-filled montages. His plan to stop the food animals from invading the mainland is enough to hold me over for now, but I need another "Engage: Coffee Break!" If something along those lines is missing, it might be enough to make a grown man cry. And since I'm not half the man Officer Earl Devereaux is, I don't think I'd be able to squeeze the tears back in.
