Thoughts by TSR: Up until the last couple minutes of the second quarter, this Super Bowl ad for Fast & Furious 6 was the unquestionable highlight of the first half. The 49ers near comeback in the second half was a lot of fun to watch, but if I'm being honest, nothing touched how giddy these 60 seconds of "vehicular warfare" made me.
Dwayne Johnson is the best thing to ever happen to this series, and considering he performs a totally badass jumping punch on a guy, I think it's safe to say he'll deliver. The appearance of Haywire's Gina Carano was a pleasant surprise. I'd totally forgotten she was going to be in it, so the shot of her and Johnson standing in the elevator was great. The ending with the triumphant return of Michelle Rodriguez's Letty was a perfect cherry on top of the spectacular madness. More so than any of that, though, this TV spot features the gang taking down an airplane and a car blasting through the flaming wreckage. If that isn't a set piece worthy of the biggest game of the year, I don't know what is. Most of the commercials and film spots left me unimpressed, but this one for Fast & Furious 6 is a Super Bowl teaser done right.
