Thoughts by TSR: "Spring break. Spring break. Spring break forever." If the full film lives up to this trailer, I might be inclined to agree. I actually wasn't sure about this since I'm not a huge fan of the one Harmony Korine film I have seen (Mister Lonely). This, though, works for me on nearly every level. The Annapurna Pictures logo won me over straight away – all hail Megan Ellison – and everything that followed got me even more excited.
I'm not one to write off Disney stars, so the presence of Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez is fine by me. The girls don't make a huge impression, but I did really like the relaxed moment at the end where they are all singing Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time." While I've been feeling weary of all things Franco, he is the one who steals the show. Almost everything out of Alien's mouth is gold. Between telling us what life is about and asking why the girls are "actin' 'spicious," this has me wondering if I made a mistake in not considering Franco for my list of anticipated performances. The big parties look glamorous, but most of this trailer shows a far seedier side. I probably wouldn't be too interested if it was primarily the former. Luckily the latter takes over, and that has Spring Breakers shooting up my most anticipated list.
