'Nobody Walks' starring John Krasinski and Olivia Thirlby - trailer review
Nobody Walks Directed by: Ry Russo-Young Starring: John Krasinski, Olivia Thirlby, Rosemarie DeWitt Rating: R Release Date: October 12, 2012
TRAILER SCORE: 8/10
Thoughts by TSR: I hadn’t heard a whole lot about Nobody Walks, so I assumed the biggest selling point would be John Krasinski. I really like him as an actor, but he’s been wasting away on the shell of what used to be “The Office” for a few seasons now. That changed when I discovered this film was co-written by Lena Dunham. After adoring the first season of “Girls,” anything Dunham is involved in is worth a shot. Her involvement made me think this would skew comedic. Not true. The fact that it’s more dramatic than expected is not a bad thing. If anything, it has me more intrigued.
There’s a messiness to the back half of this trailer that I’m really drawn to. It feels appropriate for the type of story the film is telling. The idea of a new person coming in and disrupting everyone’s lives isn’t new, but there’s something about the way this cast and trailer handles it that prevents the whole thing from feeling tired. I do worry that Olivia Thirlby’s character will feel like a caricature of the impossibly beautiful artist who otherwise happily married men can’t resist, but hopefully this will give a different spin on it.
Dunham and the cast – Krasinski and Rosemarie DeWitt look especially good – were enough to immediately get me interested. This trailer that gives a peek at the multiple stories of love, lust, and heartbreak makes Nobody Walks one I actively look forward to seeing.
