'Hit and Run' starring Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

Hit and Run Directed by: Dax Shepard Starring: Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper Rating: Not Yet Rated Release Date: August 24, 2012

TRAILER SCORE: 5/10

Thoughts by TSR: Bradley Cooper’s hilarious dreadlocks are simultaneously the best and worst thing about this trailer for Hit and Run. That speaks to my overall reaction, as everything else exists in that middling ground where I can’t really be bothered to care one way or the other.

The one thing that could make this fairly entertaining is the natural chemistry between Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell. They are a real life couple and what we see of them here is fairly fun. Unfortunately, these 150 seconds aren’t completely made up of scenes featuring the two of them, leaving us with too many sound effects masking curse words and too much “comedy” from Tom Arnold. Despite brief flashes – Cooper bursting into the room with the elderly people, Shephard’s immediate reaction to Cooper admitting what happened in prison – the humorous moments are few and far between. The action scenes look competent, if not exceptional, but nothing about this is appealing enough to get me all that interested.

I like Dax Shephard, Kristen Bell, and Bradley Cooper, so I’m certainly not rooting against Hit and Run. If this trailer is reflective of the overall quality it probably won’t be a film one regrets seeing. But it seems like the type that will start fading from memory the minute the lights in the theater come up.
