Thoughts by TSR: Super Bowl XLVI had its share of memorable moments – Blackburn’s interception, Welker’s drop, Bradshaw trying not to score the potential game-winning TD – but nothing that happened during the telecast gave me as big of a thrill as the 360 degree shot of all the Avengers side-by-side. I’ve been going back and forth on just how excited I am for The Avengers, but with images like that it’s hard not to be eager to see how it will turn out.
I’m still not entirely sure how Black Widow and Hawkeye fit in with the group – other than to further raise the Hottest Team of Superheroes in the History of the Nine Worlds quotient – but most of this footage looks really good. We also get our first look at Loki’s army, who until now had been not been shown. It’s hard to form much of an opinion at this point, but it’s nice to start to get a sense of what our heroes will be up against.
At the top I said the 360 degree shot was the coolest thing I saw during the game. While technically true, it’s only because what was shown was a shorter version. Had this extended spot been shown, not even Tom Brady and Eli Manning getting in a fist fight at midfield could have topped the awesome Hulk action that caps off this long version. The big green guy Hulk smashing a plane out of the sky is probably my favorite thing I’ve seen in a superhero movie trailer in a long time. Your move, Batman.
