Thoughts by TSR: I'm a cynical bastard. However, once I did love Christmas movies. It's early October and I'm not ready for the Christmas season to hit me yet. Still by the end of this trailer, I was a little converted. It helped when I saw it comes from Aardman Animation, makers of Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit films. I like the voice actors as well (even though the last film McAvoy voiced was the hideous Gnomeo and Juliet). Plus, it's hard to resist an underdog story. That said I don't want to suggest I'm going to run to the movie theater, if I see this at all it will most likely be on DVD or TV at some point. But I grew up with films that my family would watch every year, Santa Claus: The Movie and All I Want For Christmas, neither of which could be considered "good." This looks better than either, so I think if you have kids it'd be worth giving it a go.
