'Puss in Boots' starring Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek - trailer review
Puss in Boots Directed by: Chris Miller Starring: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Amy Sedaris, Zach Galifianakis Rating: PG Release Date: October 28, 2011
TRAILER SCORE: 4/10
Thoughts by TSR: After four Shrek films, the cast has gotten too expensive (but not too busy, hey Mike Myers!) so the B team gets called in for his first movie. Banderas's Puss in Boots first appeared in Shrek 2 where he won hearts with his combination of being a cute cat and speaking with Banderas' manly voice. That joke's gotten kind of old and from the trailer, it's not clear they have any new ones to add. There's physical comedy (cat running through box, leaving cat-shaped hole), dirty humor (a balls joke that seems out of place in a the trailer for a kids movie) and redneck humor (some lady talking cat cliches in a hick accent). But let's be honest, this trailer has one purpose, to show people this movie exists. I won't be seeing it, most adults probably aren't anxious to see it, but if you have a kid, and your kid likes Shrek movies, you'll see it. This isn't meant to entice an audience, just tell them when and where to shell out the money.
