TRAILER SCORE: 9/10

Thoughts by TSR: After releasing a few parody teasers, Disney finally has released a full length trailer for The Muppets. I’ve watched this trailer a couple times, and each time one word comes to mind: Delightful. While I didn’t laugh a whole lot, I constantly had a smile across my face as I watched the Muppets do their thing. Whether it was Miss Piggy doing her patented karate chop, Kermit the Frog playing the banjo, or the Swedish Chef simply being the Swedish Chef, I was enjoying myself and wanting more.

The trailer features a lot of Amy Adams and Jason Segel, which I’ve seen a few people take issue with, but I have absolutely no problem with it. I love Amy Adams in everything, and her sweet persona (well, excluding her character in The Fighter) seems to fit perfectly with the wholesomeness of the Muppets. As for Jason Segel, his passion for the Muppets really sells me on his involvement (both as actor and writer). When he says, "I’m just super excited!” it’s easy to believe that is Segel himself saying it just as much as it is his character. The Muppets often have had human characters to play off, and it's hard to think of two better people to fill those roles than Jason Segel and Amy Adams.

There isn’t much in the way of story shown, but what more do we need than knowing the Muppets are getting back together? Personally, that’s enough to make this one of my most anticipated films. Like I said, I didn’t laugh a whole lot, but the bit with all the Muppets in the car had me going. A few jokes didn’t work for me (particularly the fart joke early on in the trailer with Fozzie Bear), but not so much that it lowers my excitement. I can't wait until this Thanksgiving when "it's time to meet the Muppets." I may be a lot of things, but impervious to the charm of the Muppets I am not.
