Thoughts by TSR: I saw the shorter, more mysterious version of this trailer and it went right over my head. Intrigued, I watched the longer trailer, which blew my mind. Either way, it's all gorgeous.
The idea of a second earth, where you may have a double, or you may get to go back and change past mistakes is already a lovely one; but when combined with Brit Marling gazing longingly up at a twin earth in the night sky, her blonde hair whipping in the wind, it shoots past beautiful somewhere in the range of orgiastic. Now all you need is pensive a Coldplay song playing in the background, and I already feel like it's had a life-changing impact on me.
I didn't burst into tears during the trailer, but the alarms still went off: the "likelihood you will bawl during this movie: high" alarms. It was somewhat dampened by the frothing, seething, snobbish review I read from someone who'd already seen the movie and thought it was yet another sign of the disintegration of civilization ... but then he said it was just as bad as Black Swan, so I think the rest of us are in the clear.
