'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz - trailer review
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Directed by: Rob Marshall Starring: Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Geoffrey Rush Rating: PG-13 Release Date: May 20, 2011
TRAILER SCORE: 7/10
Thoughts by TSR: I'm not like Aaron Ruffcorn, who apparently really loves the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. I didn't even bother with the third movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, because I was so bored with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Yet this trailer certainly has me surprisingly curious about the fourth installment in the franchise. Mermaids? Ian McShane as Blackbeard? Lots of explosions, and not to mention the fiery Penelope Cruz? I'm on board!
For fans of this series, I can only imagine that the trailer would generate even more enthusiasm. It brings the return of everything they seem to love, from Johnny Depp's drunken one-liners to some type of ship possessed by spirits not of this world. For anyone looking to fulfill their desire to see some sword fights, and to experience general pirate action imagery, this trailer seems to pack a lot of it in very nicely. This only leads me to think that the movie itself has a higher than usual chance of providing the same amount of entertainment. And just thinking about this one causes Han Zimmer's theme to get stuck in my head.
