MY THOUGHTS: I don't normally do so well with sci-fi. Something about it tends to turn me off. But, like I said, I don't usually do sci-fi. I guess there's an exception for just about everything. Then again, in the day and age of the "let's give it all away" preview this trailer is surprisingly unique. Come to think of it, after watching about two minutes, I still couldn't tell you what this movie is about. Now sometimes that's a bad thing. Other times, it can work to a movie's benefit. I Am Number Four is just one of those movies, I guess. It's a nice blend of mystery and generic action to tide fans over. Sure, it doesn't seem like it brings a whole lot of new stuff to the table, but I could be pleasantly surprised, who knows? Who are we kidding? Even if it doesn't, I'll still probably check it out.
In fact, as I take a second look at it, it's starting to seem familiar already. Any fans of the game Infamous out there? Sure, I Am Number Four doesn't look as gritty or as brutal (it even seems fair to call it a little sanitized, at least from the trailer) but maybe it's just the use of powers that got me thinking about it. Whatever the reason may be, I've made the connection there and there's no un-making it. This will probably only lead me to disappointment, but I guess there's no telling that, until I actually see the movie.
