'Case 39' starring Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper - trailer review
Case 39 Directed by: Christian Alvart Starring: Renee Zellweger, Bradley Cooper, Jodelle Ferland Rating: R Release Date: October 1, 2010
TRAILER SCORE: 4/10
MY THOUGHTS: It's that time of year again. The horror flicks are starting to come out in droves and it's about time for a new batch! Well, "new" might not be the word I should use. No, I'm not just talking about the tired plot of "little girl who looks sweet, but is she really evil?" Although none of them will ever outdo the original The Omen, I've seen some movies that handle the tired plot in an interesting way. No, I hesitate to use "new" when talking about Case 39 because it's been completed for almost 2 years and the studios still haven't found a way to sell it in theaters. That's usually a bad sign. Matters are made worse by the movie having been leaked onto countless torrent sites. Still, judging from this trailer, it's not even worth your broadband to illegally download it. There are some cool visuals throughout the trailer, but most of it looks pretty weak. I mean, even after watching the two and a half minute trailer, I feel pretty safe in saying there's probably a pretty lame third act twist that most people could see coming from a mile away. Combined with Renee Zellweger's inability to emote since she's Botoxed it all away and Jodelle "every creepy little girl in every horror movie for the past 10 years" Ferland, nothing about this flick stands out for me.
